“Planet Earth” was the debut single by the English new wave band Duran Duran, released in 1981. It was included on the band’s self-titled debut album and reached #12 on the UK Singles Chart. The song features a blend of synths and guitars and showcases the band’s eclectic and unique sound that would come to define the New Romantic movement. Its music video, which was one of the first shown on MTV, also helped to establish Duran Duran as style icons and trendsetters.
